"Celebrating Mom" entry for I {heart} Faces

I had the amazing oppurtunity to capture the images of my good friend's birth of her second baby girl. Even though I have given birth to four of my own children, I have never witnessed one from the other side. I took this photo in the stillness of mommy meets baby moment. There are no words to describe the peaceful joy experienced when your baby is placed in your arms for the first time. It still amazes me no matter how long and hard the labor was, it is, in a instant, forgotten. In this moment, without realizing it, a mother places all her own needs aside and will forever give her all to this beautiful blessing that she holds in her arms. This moment doesn't exist because of wealth or skin color. This moment doesn't exist because of politics or social status. In this moment, the moment in which a mother holds her child in her arms for the first time, unconditional love will claim the heart of a woman and she will forever be a mother.
